Day1/2 Colombo

Day 12 Sigiriya

Historical Significance: Built in the 5th century AD by King Kashyapa, Sigiriya served as a royal palace and fortress. It later became a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century.

Architecture: The site features the remains of an extensive network of fortifications, vast gardens, reservoirs, and structures. The most notable is the Lion’s Gate, with massive lion paws carved into the rock.
